Abstract:
The Branzei lab studies the replication of damaged DNA and difficult to replicate regions. Her lab has provided insights into the principles of recombination regulation and the relationship between replication stress and chromosome structure. Her research spans three major areas: DNA damage tolerance and recombination, replication of structured DNA, and chromosome structure establishment during replication. In her talk, Dana Branzei will present several current research projects that highlight principles of recombination regulation during replication and will discuss emerging ideas connecting replication fork dynamics and recombination with global or localized defective sister chromatid cohesion and mitotic chromatin modifications.
